About Voices for Durack

We are people who live in the federal electorate of Durack in Western Australia who want ethical and effective representation in our federal parliament.

Formed in 2021, Voices for Durack Inc is one of dozens of independent Voices for groups that have sprung up across Australia. We are not a political party. We are not affiliated with any political party or politician.

We are a wide range of people, with different backgrounds and opinions, who have plenty in common.

WE SHARE A BIG, BEAUTIFUL ELECTORATE

From Kununurra southwards through many First Nations to just north and east of Boorloo/Perth, we value our caring people, beautiful biodiversity, environments, and cultures in the electorate of Durack.

WE SHARE A POSITIVE VISION

We are united by our desire to find common ground and help enable ethical and effective representation in our federal parliament. We want to help a positive future emerge while creating a kinder present.

WE ARE INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEERS

We receive no donations or funding. We have volunteers from Toodyay to Broome. They include Christie Kingston, Dale Park, Sue Monks, Philip Gardiner, Angela Park, Hamish Maclean, Richard McLellan, Elisabeth McLellan, John White, and more. Our group includes carers, health and education workers, farmers, ecologists, business owners, company directors, students, grandparents, volunteers, a merchant bank co-founder, and more.

WE’RE GRATEFUL FOR OUR CIVILISATION.
WE WANT IT TO PROGRESS WELL, FOR ALL.

When we ask ourselves “What is government for?” the heart of our answer is “For the wellbeing of Australians, now and in the future”.

When we ask ourselves “Are our political representatives focussed on this?” our answer is “Not always. Their focus and ability to govern are diluted by party politics, election cycles, media cycles, donors, powerful lobbyists, and other distracting influences. We’d like to help solve this.”

This is what we do…

We listen

We host friendly conversations with small groups of Durack people about community, representation, and people’s concerns.

In these kitchen table conversations, we don’t talk, we listen.

Our Durack Deserves – Voices for Durack – Interim Report 2021 sums up what people have told us so far. Have a read! (PDF / Word)

We’re going to listen to more people and then update the report – so please have your say!

Our reports are freely available, including to candidates in the next federal election.

We connect

We find and connect people in Durack who believe they deserve – and can achieve – more effective, ethical, wellbeing-focused representation.

We chat. We listen. We find and focus on common ground.

We seek and share inspiring stories of outstanding governance and representation.

We seek and share inspiring stories of communities enjoying the process and results of achieving and enabling brilliant representation for their electorate.

We lift spirits. We raise ambition. It feels good. It is good.

All the while, we behave like we expect our political representatives to behave. Kindly. Ethically.

We trust that there will be enough people who care and understand their own collective power enough to join us in achieving better representation for Durack. You’re invited to get involved.

We are seeking an independent candidate

We are seeking an ethical, electable person to run as an independent candidate for Durack in the next federal election. Could it be you or someone you know?
