We wish to thank all of you who, like us, yearn for a healthier democracy with ethical, effective representation that’s focused on equity and wellbeing.
We thank you for your interest in #VoicesForDurack and we thank you for your hope.
With aspiration and inspiration, we can act with purpose. Concerted action from many people in our communities will get us closer to a more equitable, honest, and accountable democracy.
One of our goals has been to find and endorse an amazing independent candidate to represent our vast and diverse federal electorate. However, as the election looms ever closer it is clear to us that we have run out of time.
We have spoken to a handful of incredible potential candidates however the major issue preventing them from coming forward is the limited ability to build a solid campaign in such a vast electorate, in such little time.
So for now we intend to focus our efforts towards:
Organising a public forum where we can all hear from Durack’s #AusVotes2022 candidates on issues that matter to people in our electorate. Stay tuned for details!
Continuing to listen to you and documenting the concerns of our community. Please ensure you and your friends are heard!
We aim to make our elected representative and election candidates aware of the concerns that are not being met in our electorate, and help make our elected representative accountable to our electorate.
We continue to hold that democracy in our country could and should be done better. A healthy democracy is good for our health!
As the next electoral term progresses, we will also focus on growing our community of people to help find and support an independent candidate for Durack to run in 2025.
